Paul says in 1 Corinthians 1 – “Now I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all agree and that there be no division among you, but that you be made complete in the same mind and in the same judgment”.
The Word says that the church (God’s People) are to be united in the same mind. What is that? Well, Acts chapter 2 gives us some insight into this. We read in verses 42-47 that God has established His “Liked Mindedness” if you will. What is it?
- That the church come together in the Fellowship of the Word – He says, “All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching”. The word “devoted” could best be translated “addicted”. Are we united in being addicted to God’s Word?
- That the church come together in the Fellowship of their Wealth – He says, “And all believers met together in one place and shared everything they had”. Luke 16:11, Jesus says, “If you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches?”. Have you brought your wealth – money, time, talents, gifts – to the body to be used as needed?
- That the church come together in the Fellowship of Witness – He says, “A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders”. This fellowship happens when believers come shoulder to shoulder underneath the burden of the Gospel. Are you and I burdened for others and their faith or lack of?
- That the church come together in the Fellowship of Worship – He says, “all while praising God” .. It’s not about style or location, but subject. HE should always be the subject of our worship.
